Throwback time: Learn more about Mindi

So, it’s 3am and I am currently sitting at my other job attempting not to fall asleep. I have had an energy drink and even did my beach body barre work out to no avail. Mister sandman is seriously trying to knock me out. Four more hours and sweet relief will be myn, though my luck as usual will dictate that the minute I get off work I will be wide awake. This time of night always makes me nostalgic and I tend to listen to songs I grew up with as a teen. My current song is Yellow by cold play.

It’s funny so much happens in life and while some things constantly change around us, somethings never will. I always find it interesting that each time I hear a song I haven’t heard for a long time, my perception and feelings for the song change based on where my life is at the current moment.

Thinking back when I started on this path to becoming an animator, I never would have thought I’d be where I am now. I was just some 17year old that graduated highschool with my head in the cloud and my heart on my sleeve. To be honest that hasn’t really changed. Well, other than getting knocked down one to many times in my love life so that now the heart on the sleeve is hidden under a thick jacket. Still there, just not as accessible. I think that to a certain extent though everyone develops that particular defense mechanism, but then who knows.I think the funniest part is that through all the twists and turns my life has taken, all the hardships and agony I’ve gone through to get here. I have never once regretted my decision and my passion has only increased – not decreased. Sure, I had doubts, even wanted to quit a time or two, but something in me just can’t give it up. I will never give up , I can’t, it’s simply too much a part of me. One of the things that hasn’t changed, and I hope to god never will is my focus on the reason I create art and why I love it.

The design of your life and goals

I would love to become huge like Disney or studio Ghibli, and that is a goal we strive for. But if I never make it that far it doesn’t matter, because if I look at what’s around me right now, I’ve already made a large part of my dreams come true. I am surrounded by people who care about me, I work with a kick ass team, and I own my own studio. Best of all I get to do what I love every single day. That is an accomplishment that shouldn’t be tossed aside just because we aren’t like studio Ghibli or Disney. For anyone out there reading this I just want to say don’t give up, don’t EVER give up on what you love and who you want to be. Life is NEVER going to go as you expect, the only thing I can say is do your best. You’re going to fall. You are going to have moments where you can’t get back up and try again. ITS OKAY TO REST, give yourself time to breath, and remember why you keep getting up and trying again. Then when you’ve rested, get up and try again. You do whatever your passion is and be proud of yourself no matter what level you’re at. Take your time discovering who you are and love yourself for everything you are, but also the things you’re not. Those are the things that are going to make you unique. Things will work out one way or another, so enjoy every moment you have.

Enjoy life you must!

So, in the words of My Chemical Romance:

“Do or die, you’ll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you’ll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
WE’LL CARRY ON!”

Bye strangers! And carry on!
